Typically I would have lots to say about this movie: how problematic the lens of whiteness is in always telling the story of folks of color, how dangerous it is to turn a very painful part of our history into comedy, how annoying it is to constantly see these white quilt box office films, etc etc. BUT this time I’m going to bite my tongue until I’ve seen it- maybe it’ll actually be heartwarming, after all, this is post-racial America right?…… ;)
